Frosty Acres and Adin

How many miles is this drive?
How feasible would it be if I decide to park outside the observing site and drive to Adin while it is still dark? Are the roads safe in the dark?
How walkable is the trek from mid the observing field to the parking place outside the main gate? Is there a path or is one walking through a grassy field or a stony area?
It's very feasible and you aren't the only one thinking of doing this. Adin is a ten minute drive from the observing site. There will definitely be parking outside the main gate; but we're also considering a parking area halfway between the main gate and the observing field if it looks like the headlights will not be a major bother. The walk from the observing field to the main gate is about a half mile.
Thank you
I found this link to the schedule of events for Big Valley Days 2010 on the weekend of GSSP:

It looks like there will be plenty to do in Adin while it's too light to look at stars...
